He was born on July 1, 1971 in Columbia, Mississippi. He stands 6 feet 5 inches and weighs 285 lbs. He's an experienced, athletic and physical DE who is regarded as one of the premier run-stopping DE in the National Football League. He has played in 148 league games with 102 starts in 11 pro seasons. He won two Super Bowls as a member of the New England Patriots and has recorded 18.5 career sacks, two forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries and an interception. He currently plays as a defensive end for the Oakland Raiders. Married with one daughter.

A renowned two-way lineman in football, forward and center in basketball and in track at East Marion High in Columbia, Mississippi.

In college he attended Southern Mississippi. He's a four-year letterman and two-year starter. He finished his career with 173 tackles, 18 sacks and 18 tackles for a loss. He achieved an astonishing career highs with 66 tackles and 14 tackles for a loss as a senior. He also led the team with eight sacks as a senior, two off the school record.

In 1994, he signed with th Seattle Seahawks as a rookie free agent but suffered a knee injury in the team's first preseason game and was placed on injured reserve. He spent training camp with Seattle Seahawks before being released prior to the season opener in 1995.

During the 1996 season, he played in 15 games with 11 starts for the Jets at DE. He finished second on the team in sacks with 4.5 and made 57 tackles, two passes defensed, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble. He started the season on the practice squad before signing to the 53-man roster. He also played in NFL Europe, starting in nine of 11 games for Amsterdam and recorded 30 tackles and five sacks.

In 1997 season, he played in 16 league games at DE for the Jets recording 24 tackles, one sack and three passes defensed and also played on special teams.

He played in all 16 league games with one start for the Jets and made 27 tackles in 1998.

In the 1999 season, he played in seven league games for the Jets at DE. He made a total of 11 tackles and added four more on special teams.

He started in all 16 league games at DE making a career-high of 79 tackles, including 1.5 sacks. His 79 tackles led all NFL defensive linemen on the season. Also recovered a fumble and had five passes defensed during the 2000 season.

In the 2001 season, he played in all 16 league games with 15 starts at DE and DT. He finished the season with 52 tackles, five passes defensed, a fumble recovery and seven sacks to lead the Patriots and set a new career high.

He started in 15 league games at DE for New England in the 2002 season and finished the season with 55 tackles, two sacks, one interception and two passes defensed.

In the 2003 season, he started in all 16 league games, including Super Bowl XXXVIII for the New England Patriots at DE and made 46 tackles and three passes defensed.

He played in all 16 league games in his first season in the Silver and Black in 2004, starting 15 at DE and tallied 57 tackles, three passes defensed, and 1.5 sacks for 9.5 yards in losses.

And in the 2005 season, he played in 14 contests with 13 starts ad finished the year with 56 tackles, including 50 solo stops, one sack for a five-yard loss, four passes defensed, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries...Also contributed on special teams. He made his 100th career start in Week 15 against Cleveland.
