Carl Weathers Gender: Male
Played football for San Diego State and later for CFL and the Oakland Raiders. Weathers grew up in the ghetto, relying on his athletic prowess to overcome the difficulties of his situation. Once in college at San Diego State, he became a formidable football star playing for the Raiders in the early 1970's. At San Diego State University, Carl was a member of the school's football team. This led him to a career as a linebacker with the Oakland Raiders and later on with a team in the Canadian Football League (British Columbia Lions); In 1973, he retired from football to devote himself entirely to his dream of becoming an actor. Five years in the sporting world had taken their toll on the 6'2" linebacker and Weathers believed he was destined for greatness on the silver screen. Having turned a professional football career into a successful acting career, he is probably best known as Rocky's noble opponent and then friend in the first four Rocky films. Since his acting career began in 1975, Weathers has worked steadily, building a career in action-oriented flicks. He appeared in Predator (1987) and played the title character in Action Jackson (1988). On television, he landed a recurring role in the series In the Heat of the Night (1993–94) and telefilms based on the series (1994, 1995). He also played in comedies like Semi Tough (1978) and Happy Gilmore (1996). He reprised his Happy Gilmore role of Chubbs Peterson in Little Nicky (2000). High School: Polytechnic High School, Long Beach, CA
