Raiders Add Receiver Carter

The Oakland Raiders have come to terms with wide receiver Drew Carter on a one year deal that is believed to be worth $2 million. This addition gives the Raiders another speedy downfield threat to match with JaMarcus Russell's cannon arm. Adding Carter and Javon Walker as deep threats to go with Ronald Curry whose strength is being a move the chains receiver was a desperately needed upgrade.

The Raiders have added a key dimension to their offense that they did not have last year. Speed at the wide out position. Ronald Curry is a move the chains kind of guy at this point in his career. Mike Williams was a disaster and Tim Dwight was a midseason replacement. Now the Raiders have two playmaker type receivers to go with Curry and tight end Zack Miller.

This leaves the left tackle spot as the biggest question mark on the offensive side of the ball. Unless the rumors of JaMarcus Russell's weight nearing 300 lbs are accurate, then he may be moved to tackle. Fortunately, John Clayton has said on record that JaMarcus's weight should not be much of a concern, people tend to forget that he is a “Big Quarterback.” Seriously, expecting Kwame Harris or Mario Henderson to step into the left tackle position would be a recipe for concern.

If Jake Long is there and Chris Long is gone, he may be the one the Raiders take at number four. If he is the pick, look for the line to look like J. Long, Gallery, Grove/Newberry, Carlisle , McQuistan/Harris/Green.
