Nnamdi Asomugha August 24, 2006 He was born on July 6, 1981 in Lafayette, Louisiana. He currently plays cornerback for the Oakland Raiders. He is an American-born Nigerian. Described as big, versatile and physical young DB who emerged as a key member of the defense in 2005. He has played in 47 league games with 24 starts at both corner and safety in three pro seasons. In 1999, Nnamdi was one of the nation's most highly recruited DBs during his senior year at Narbonne High School, Los Angeles. He was chosen to became a member of the First team all-state selection by Student Sports Magazine and named as one of the Top-20 DBs in the country by Super Prep as a member of its All-American team. Nnamdi finished his senior year with 86 tackles and seven interceptions, returning one 98 yards for a school record and caused eight fumbles and recovered six others as a senior. He also returned two kickoffs and one punt for touchdowns. For 408 yards and six touchdowns on offense he had 23 receptions. As a QB, he completed 14-of-22 passes for 192 yards and two scores. He played in the California-Texas Shrine All-Star Game. And became a standout basketball player who earned All-League honors as a junior and senior guard. He took up Business Management major and played at the University of California and finished his career with 187 tackles, three sacks, 19 stops for losses, seven interceptions, 15 pass deflections, two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble in 41 games. He was drafted in the 2003 NFL Draft by the Raiders. In 2004, he star at seven and he played in all 16 games. He totaled 39 tackles on defense, including 33 solo stops. The first sack of his career notched in Week 2 against Buffalo. In Week 16 at Kansas City, he recorded three pass deflections and forced an interception. In the 2005 preseason, he earned a starting spot at CB and started all 16 games there. He recorded 60 tackles, including 55 solos, from his CB position and led the team with 14 passes defensed. In Week 3 at Philadelphia, he set a career high with three pass deflections and matched it in Week 8 at Tennessee.
