Oakland Raiders vs. Seattle Seahawks Preview

RAIDERS RECORD: 2-5, after beating the defending Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday

WHERE THEY RANK: No. 32 on offense (15th rushing, 32nd passing); No. 8 on defense (24th rushing, No. 1 passing)

SERIES: Raiders lead 27-22, including a 31-17 victory in the 2002 season opener at Oakland -- the last regular-season game between the two teams

STAR POWER: Derrick Burgess. Randy Moss would have you believe it's he. But the best thing about the Raiders is their pass defense, and their best defensive player is Burgess, a pass-rusher the Seahawks took a look at when he was available in free agency last year. Burgess has 7 1/2 sacks, which ties him for fourth-most in the league. Last season, he led the NFL, and set a Raiders franchise record, with 16 sacks .

UNSUNG HERO: Chris Carr. Moss would have you believe it's he. But Carr is developing into a big-play machine for the Raiders. Sunday, Carr intercepted a Ben Roethlisberger pass and returned it 100 yards for a touchdown. He also has a 50-yard kickoff return and a 35-yard punt return this season. If the name sounds familiar, it's because Carr had a 72-yard punt return for a touchdown in the preseason finale against the Seahawks -- the Raiders' only score in the game.

ON THE SPOT: Moss. The Raiders' big-play, but also plays-when-he-feels-like-it, receiver would have you believe it's not he. But Moss dropped two passes in Sunday's game against the Steelers, eliciting some boos from the Raiders' ridiculously faithful fans. He also had three drops and a fourth pass go off his hands in the end zone against the Cardinals. The cameras will be on Moss for this game and provide him with some much-sought-after national TV exposure against a Seahawks defense that has been doling out big plays as if they were Halloween candy.

INJURY REPORT: QB Aaron Brooks is back for the first time since straining a pectoral muscle in Week 2, but Andrew Walter will continue to start. OG Barry Sims (abdominal strain) and SS Michael Huff (right shoulder) were injured against the Steelers, but are expected to play Monday.

FAMILIAR FACES: Backup QB Marques Tuiasosopo played at the University of Washington and Woodinville High School. Defensive line coach Keith Millard played at Washington State and was with the Seahawks for two games in 1992. QB coach Jim McElwain played and coached at Eastern Washington University.

THE LAST WORD: "We are. No, I can't really say that because I see glimpses of us being very successful when we put our minds to it. I can honestly say that I don't think that this team is in a rebuilding mode. We need to come together and find a way for us to win. If it's cutting reps in practice, if it's feeding us better or if it's taking care of our bodies, whatever it may be we need to find a way to get it done. But I don't think that this organization is in a rebuilding process, no." -- Moss, on his weekly "Monday With Moss" show on Fox Sports Radio, when asked if the Raiders were in a rebuilding process
