Ronald Curry

On May 28, 1979, Ronald Antonio Curry was born in Hampton, Virginia. He stands 6 feet and 2 and weighs 210 lbs. Currently plays as a wide receiver for the Oakland Raiders of the NFL. He was also selected with the 24th pick of the seventh round of the 2002 NFL Draft out of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. At Hampton High School in Hampton, Virginia, Curry was an All-American in basketball and football. He won the McDonalds Slam Dunk contest and was MVP of the McDonalds All-American game. He was also committed to play both basketball and football to the University of Virginia before signing instead with rival North Carolina. This made him a very unpopular figure among Virginia fans, who referred to him as "Benedict Curry".

He's a two-sport athlete at North Carolina during college. Also a four-year starter in football who shared signal-calling duties in his final season. In 2003, he played in 15 league games with two starts at WR.

Described as an athletic, productive young receiver who has shown tremendous courage in battling back from serious injuries in each of the past two seasons. He emerged as one of the most dangerous and explosive receivers in the NFL in 2004, seeing first significant playing time at wide receiver after spending the previous three years primarily on special teams and in a reserve role. he has played in 31 league games with five starts in pro career.

He has played in 12 league games with three starts before suffering a season-ending Achilles tendon injury against Kansas City in 2004.

In 2005, he played in the first two games of the season before tearing his Achilles tendon and prematurely ending his season. He caught two passes for 12 yards. Also played on special teams and became inactive for next three games. He was placed on injured reserve.
