He won four letters in football and basketball while attending Howard High School in Chattanooga, Tennessee. While he played OT, Defensive End and Line Backer during his high school career and was a three-time all-state and all-city selection. He was even nominated for Tennessee's "Mr. Football" Award as a senior.

In 1999, he played and lettered one year at Tennessee-Chattanooga, recording 36 tackles, a sack, two passes defensed, two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble but did not play in 2000.

He wasn't able to attend training camp due to a foot injury in 2001.

In the 2002 season, he was assigned to Berlin Thunder for 2002 NFL Europe League season by Kansas City and played in 10 games as a Defensive Tackle.

He played with the Green Bay Packers and was later signed by Raiders in 2003. Described as a big, physical young Defensive Tackle and recorded 22 tackles and two passess in the 2004 season.

In the 2005 season he played in the final nine games of the year at Defensive Tackle and finished the year with seven tackles, including six solo stops.
